🎮 Palworld 1.0: Every New Feature, Region & System Explained

Published on · Reading time: ~18–22 min

After two and a half years in Early Access, Palworld 1.0 is here — and it is less a patch than a relaunch. With update 1.100.427, Pocketpair delivers two entirely new endgame regions, 72 new Pals, two new progression systems, reworked Tower Bosses, 13 new weapons, a new raid system, and hundreds of balance and quality-of-life changes. The official patch notes span roughly 27 PDF pages — here is the full, structured breakdown.

The update is free for all owners, the base price was not raised, and Palworld launched simultaneously on Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Game Pass. If you already played in Early Access, note that existing saves still work — but Pocketpair recommends a fresh start to truly experience the reworked story and new progression feel.

Want to experience Palworld 1.0 with friends? Run your own dedicated server — up to 32 players, full control over world settings.

Release details & save data

Palworld 1.0 launched on 10th July 2026 (Japan time; Europe/North America from the evening of 9th July) as update v1.100.427. Pocketpair describes the release as “essentially a new game” — and the numbers back that up: over 10,000 words of patch notes, nearly hitting Steam’s character limit.

Release facts

  • Platforms: Steam, Microsoft Store, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Game Pass
  • Price: No increase — Early Access buyers pay nothing extra
  • Community: Over 40 million players worldwide, ~500,000 concurrent Steam players at launch
  • Concurrent: Highest Steam peak since the original Early Access launch

Save data & migration

  • Existing worlds still load — but main and sub-mission progress has been reset to keep the new reward structure fair.
  • Tower boss missions auto-complete based on bosses you already defeated.
  • Pocketpair recommends a fresh character for the full 1.0 experience.
  • The Global Palbox lets you transfer Pals between saves — your Early Access collection is not lost.
  • Mods: Old mod files must be deleted, not just disabled — otherwise save corruption is a real risk.
  • Before updating: back up your world.

New regions: Sunreach & World Tree

The largest geographic expansion since launch: two fully new regions practically double the explorable world and form the core of the reworked story.

Sunreach — floating islands above Palpagos

Sunreach is an archipelago of floating islands east of Feybreak, held aloft by Paldium energy. The region has its own civilization, blue grass, unique trees, and a completely different biome from the surface. Here you’ll find:

  • New Pals that only spawn in Sunreach
  • New Tower Bosses — including Auri & Shaolong (unlocked via Defense Modules)
  • Soralite — exclusive ore that requires specialized equipment to mine and feeds top-tier gear
  • New settlements with NPCs, shops, and sub-missions
  • Expert/Master fishing spots for endgame anglers

Access: After defeating Bjorn & Bastigor at the Feybreak Tower (SW coordinates approx. -1294, -1669), an altar on the tower activates and teleports you directly to Sunreach. Alternatively: fly up manually with a strong flying Pal (Jetragon, Suzaku, Selyne) — the lowest island sits at roughly 350 m altitude.

World Tree — the endgame centerpiece

The World Tree, visible on the horizon since Early Access, is finally enterable — after defeating all eight original Tower Bosses. It answers the central story question: Why do the factions fight over the towers?

  • Story finale with end bosses Zanara & Astralym (level 80)
  • Paloxite — endgame ore, only mineable in the World Tree
  • Radiant Gems — resource for the Awakening system
  • Ancient Civilization Relics — convertible into crafting materials
  • New Tower Boss as the story climax

Further world expansions

  • 7 new small islands across three biomes: volcano, desert, ruins — each with exclusive Pals
  • Ancient Ruins across the map — minigames (Hack Terminals, Sealing Stones) reward schematics
  • Watchtowers — reveal fog of war and become fast-travel points (Assassin’s Creed vibes)
  • New settlements in Bamboo Groves, Snowy Mountains, Sakurajima, and Sunreach
  • Enemy bases at sea for offshore combat
  • Wildlife Sanctuaries fully reworked: three conservation areas with drones, searchlights, rare Pals, and boss Pals (Grizzbolt, Astegon, and more)
  • Rebalanced Pal habitats — spawns feel more natural for element and region
  • 15 new dungeon entrances in Feybreak, improved lighting and layouts

72 new Pals & animation update

The largest Pal expansion in a single update: 47 brand-new Pals plus 25 variants of existing species — 72 additions in total, bringing the roster to 287 Pals.

Highlights among the newcomers

  • Sky-dragon Legendary — a new celestial dragon
  • Giant whale Pal — a massive water Pal
  • Sword eel — wieldable as a blade
  • Most newcomers live in Sunreach, the World Tree, and the new small islands
  • Some also appear in existing regions — exploration pays off everywhere

Existing Pals: 100+ new animations

  • Swimming, sleeping beside you, new idle motions
  • More natural riding animations and terrain adaptation
  • Pals stop and look at you when you’re idle (“They miss you!”)
  • Lovander is now Dark-type (was Normal)
  • Verdash, Robinquill, Fenglope: updated designs

Awakening & Mutation — the new progression systems

Two systems raise the power ceiling significantly — and they stack with each other.

Awakening — endgame strengthening

In the World Tree, you’ll find Radiant Gems (one per element). These combine into Awakening Gems and are applied to Pals of the matching element:

  • Significantly boosted stats
  • Golden glow on the Pal and in the level display
  • Exact bonus values visible on the status screen (alongside Souls)
  • Ideal for endgame teams after level 80

Mutation — breeding with jackpot potential

Every breeding attempt now has a small chance to mutate: the resulting egg produces a Pal with higher stats and a unique passive skill. Four new cakes steer the odds:

CakeEffect
Mushroom CakeSlightly raises the chance of higher stats at birth
Vegetable CakeProduces two Pal eggs at once
Deluxe Vegetable CakeRaises mutation chance and stat growth
Special CakeImproves inheritance of multiple passive skills from parents

World Tree passive skills are a new category of extremely powerful passives — with real trade-offs. Examples:

  • Twin-Edged Holy Blade: +50 % attack, but lower defense
  • Dimensional Leap: +50 % movement speed, but faster hunger drain

Partner Skills, Work Suitability & Condensation

Partner Skills — 200+ Pals reworked

One of the deepest system passes: Partner Skills for over 200 Pals were redesigned. New effects include Pal Effigy detection, elemental resistance bonuses, team damage buffs, and base work efficiency.

  • No more stacking: Identical Partner Skills no longer stack — a full team of the same Pal brings no extra benefit. Variety is rewarded.
  • No Pal Gear required: Glider boosters, follow-up attackers, and similar skills work immediately after capture — no crafting needed.
  • Drop bonus in party: “Increased drop amount” now works as long as the Pal is in your party — not only in active combat.
  • Exact values in descriptions that update as the Pal ranks up.
  • Follow-up damage can no longer accidentally kill Pals you wanted to catch.

Work Suitability: 4 → 10 levels

  • All Pals rebalanced — finer progression curve for base productivity
  • Each Condensation rank-up raises one Work Suitability; at max rank, all of them
  • New item: Applied Ranching Handbook I raises ranching suitability
  • Applied Technique items easier to farm

Condensation & Capture Bonus — less grind

  • Max Condensation: 116 → 48 copies of the same Pal
  • Capture Bonus: 12 → 5 catches per species
  • Pal Effigies (formerly Lifmunk Effigies): collect effigies of different Pals for player stat boosts
  • Egg incubation time halved in new Normal/Hard worlds
  • Soul enhancement reset significantly cheaper

Story, missions & world exploration

The main story was significantly reworked. Exploring Palpagos, fighting Tower Bosses, and the path to the World Tree now feel connected rather than like loosely linked activities.

  • New sub-missions, NPCs, and journal entries expand Palworld’s lore
  • Missions can display multiple destination markers at once
  • Reward screens show correct rewards
  • Level cap: 65 → 80 with an extended tech tree
  • New ancient-civilization technologies per level
  • Expedition destinations added in Sunreach and the World Tree
  • Exploration XP for clearing dungeons and enemy bases

Combat system, Tower Bosses & Arena

Player combat rework

  • Dodge → dash: Close distance faster, attacks possible during dash
  • Reload is not interrupted while dodging
  • Responsive controls during roll/dash
  • New command: “Attack that enemy!” via mouse wheel or right stick
  • Arrow types (fire, poison) switchable on compatible weapons
  • Reworked crime system: wanted level rises, stronger pursuers — but status clears by staying hidden

Pal active skills

  • Nearly all active skills rebalanced (power, cooldowns, usability)
  • Holy Burst hit count capped, power adjusted to 700
  • Top skills of other elements aligned — party Pals can now match or exceed player DPS
  • New skills for existing Pals: Fuddler (underground burst), Starryon (charge), Broncherry Aqua (water tackle)
  • Wild Pals: dogs bite, horses charge repeatedly, fast Pals reposition

Tower Bosses — 9 towers, 5 minutes

  • Timer: 10 → 5 minutes, stats adjusted accordingly
  • Each boss: unique arena instead of copy-paste tower rooms
  • Mid-battle tactic shifts — old strategies often no longer work
  • Defeated boss Pals can be recruited
  • 2 new towers: Sunreach + World Tree (finale) → 9 total
  • Hard Mode unlock: defeat the Azure Covenant Tower boss

13 new weapons

Late (Soralite)Laser Sword, Beam Scatter, Drone Launcher (9 drones!), Plasma Rifle (chain lightning), Beam Launcher (area explosion)

  • Ancient Series: Helm, armor, shield + boss-inspired headgear
  • 44 new accessories — e.g. Command Baton (party Pal boost), Air Walker (movement freedom)

  • High-Quality & Ancient Monitoring Stand — SAN protection for work Pals
  • Repair Kit removed — Handiwork Pals repair without items

Wave-based raid system

  • Enemies attack in waves — rewards after clearing all waves
  • Defense structures no longer consume ammo
  • Raid level scales with work-Pal level at the base
  • Enemy types vary by environment (Free Pal Alliance at Crescent Moon Shore, Eternal Pyre at Mount Obsidian)
  • Gold Coin Assembly Line → special raid event

Multiplayer, servers & PvP

Dedicated server players benefit most — but co-op and guild management were also significantly improved.

Palworld 1.0 multiplayer – voice chat and guild features
Multiplayer update: voice chat, guild roles, Discord linking, and PvP mode. (Screenshot: Pocketpair / Steam Changelog)

Multiplayer highlights

  • In-game voice chat on dedicated servers (optional in world settings)
  • Guild overhaul: Multiple roles, assignable permissions, login/logout notifications, guild markers
  • Discord account linking (Steam/Mac) — invite friends more easily
  • Structures with role-based access
  • Chat history: up to 200 lines, anti-impersonation, color-coded system messages

  • Optimized save process → lower corruption risk
  • Performance optimization for higher player counts
  • PvP mode with main-mission progression

Important: Server clustering was heavily discussed but is not usable in 1.0 — there is no supported configuration. One dedicated server = one world.

Balance, QoL, UI & graphics

Balance pass

  • Capture rates raised — Pals easier to catch overall
  • Lower-level Pals level faster (new XP table)
  • Treasure chest gold: 2–4× more
  • Accessories now crafted from schematics (no longer physical drops)
  • Recipes, weapons, ammo, armor, schematics, saddles: material requirements aligned with progression
  • Base/party Pals no longer lose SAN when taking damage
  • Hunger, fracture, and status penalties reduced
  • Normal: no item drop on death; Hard: adjusted damage taken

Quality of life

  • Auto-run, conversation skip, weapon-list popup when switching
  • Pal Box: search, Retrieve All, sort by Expedition Power, favorite toggle
  • Paldeck: filter by element and incomplete capture bonus
  • Crafting: name filter and category sorting
  • Capture bonus status visible on HP gauge
  • Respawn: fast-travel points selectable (not just base/start)
  • Vertical FOV for ultrawide monitors
  • Loading-screen tips, inventory via I key
  • 8 new hairstyles, 5 face types, 13 hair accessories

Graphics upgrade

  • Water materials and coastlines overhauled
  • Lighting improved across times of day

  • Shadows in dungeons, boss areas, and Sealed Realms
  • Post-processing adjusted in deserts and snowy regions
  • New title-screen key visual for 1.0

Verdict: Is a fresh start worth it?

Palworld 1.0 is not a content patch — it is the game Pocketpair has been building toward since the Early Access hype. Sunreach and the World Tree give Palpagos a real endgame, Awakening and Mutation open long-term build goals, and the combat/base rework makes every loop noticeably smoother.

Recommended path into 1.0

  1. Back up your old world, delete mods
  2. Start a fresh character (bring Pals via Global Palbox)
  3. Level fast via Capture Bonus (5 catches) and new missions
  4. Prioritize a flying mount → Tower Boss ladder
  5. Sunreach via Feybreak Tower → World Tree as endgame goal
  6. Play with friends on a dedicated server for voice chat & guild features

If you only briefly tried Palworld in Early Access, this is a great time to jump back in — at the launch price of approx. $20.99 (30 % off until 23rd July), or free if you already own it.

Ready for Palworld 1.0 with your crew? Launch your dedicated server — with voice chat, guild roles, and up to 32 players.

Disclaimer: Feature availability (voice chat, PvP, crossplay) may vary by platform, server type, and world settings. Server clustering is not usable in 1.0. Patch notes based on update 1.100.427 from 10th July 2026.
