On October 15, 2026, the third major map expansion for DayZ arrives – with a desert map, motorcycles, and code locks.

DayZ Badlands launches on October 15, 2026 together with Update 1.30. The expansion brings the Nasdara map (267 km², the largest official DayZ map). Update 1.30 itself is free for all players and has to be installed on every server. Nasdara requires its own mission on your server. Our DayZ servers will, of course, support the Nasdara update as well.

🌵 What Is DayZ Badlands?

Badlands is the third major map expansion after Livonia and Frostline (Sakhal). It is set in the province of Nasdara, west of Chernarus: desert instead of forest, scarce water, and ruins left behind by decades of proxy wars.

• Nasdara map: 267 km² of desert climate with day-night temperature swings.
• Sandstorms and radio signals: Morse code signals lead to underground facilities.
• Rebuilding: around 5,000 destroyed buildings can be restored, and wells can be repaired.
• Code locks: officially coming to all maps with Update 1.30.
• Motorcycles: the moped and the enduro arrive on all maps with 1.30, not just on Nasdara.
• Reworked animations and new zombie behavior.

🛠️ What This Means for Server Owners

• Update 1.30: mandatory for all servers, regardless of the map.
• Nasdara: the new map requires its own mission. The mission name will be published together with Bohemia's server files.
• Loot economy: each map has its own types.xml and event files. Adjustments made for Chernarus do not apply to Nasdara.
• Mods: Bohemia warns about problems with animation-related mods after 1.30.
• DLC: joining Nasdara servers very likely requires Badlands (as with Frostline and Sakhal). This has not been officially confirmed yet.
• Price: under 25 US dollars according to Bohemia. Check the final price in the Steam store.

🧰 Keep an Eye on Mods and Loot

After the update, check mods that touch animations for new versions. Coordinate-based features such as traders, spawns, and safe zones do not carry over from Chernarus to Nasdara and have to be set up again there.
