So, we have curated this detailed guide to help you understand more about the perfect biome for building your base. Let’s check them out below.

Plains Biome

The most preferred biome by players across the Minecraft community is Plains. Not only is it beginner-friendly, but the veteran players also love to set up their builds on this biome. The major reason behind this is its big open space with abundant passive mobs or animals gazing around the fields.

Here are some key features of this biome that might be perfect for your next build.

Flat and Open Terrain

As mentioned earlier, Plains has a flat terrain that makes it super easy to build anything without any hassle. Moreover, you get ample space for expansion, building farms, breeding, and so much more.

If you are looking to build some large structures such as farms, cities, etc., this is the best biome you can think of. Plus, it's more practical and takes less time overall.

Resource Accessibility

This is something not everyone accounts for, but you have access to every resource you would need to build around Plains.

This biome is heavily surrounded by Forests, Villages, Animals, and Water Sources, which will eventually provide you with food, wood, water, trading, and more. Even if you are simply looking to build a farm, you have everything to get started with and trade other items/resources with nearby villagers.

Hotspot for Passive Mobs

You will find a ton of passive mobs in the Plain biome scattered all around that are essential not only for food but also for multiple other resources such as leather, wool, feathers, transportation, etc.

Some of the mobs you will find here are Cows, Sheep, Horses, Pigs, and Bees. You can build farms with these animals, giving you a constant supply of all the resources throughout.

Challenges- The Plains biome also poses various challenges when it comes to building and setting up your base. Since the biome is open from all ends and has a massive coverage area, it could be susceptible to hostile mobs attacking from multiple ends.

However, you can tackle this by strengthening your defense and building necessary walls around your base.

2. Forest Biome

Next up, you can build your base in the Forest Biome. It is pretty much the most versatile biome out there and undoubtedly the most aesthetically pleasing, too. If you are looking for a peaceful and calming surrounding, this might be it.

Well, Forest Biome itself has multiple variants or types that you can choose from. Here are some of the best that can be considered for building structures.

Birch Forest

A lot of the players might agree that Birch Forest is the best of all. The birch wood is considered to be of top-notch quality and can be used in building large structures from the ground up.

Furthermore, Birch wood offers a light, creamy tone, perfect for modern, minimalist, or nature-inspired designs. Also, they are not as dense as the Dark Forest, making navigating it easier.

One added advantage of this biome is that it is well-lit and spacious, reducing the chance of hostile mobs spawning during the day, unlike the Dark Forest.

Dark Forest

Many players love creating their base in the Dark Forest, which consists of dark oak wood. Now, as a beginner, this can be a bit challenging since the trees and leaves are densely packed with little to no sunlight. This is the reason that hostile mobs even spawn during the day in such forests.

However, if you are up for a challenge and hoping to build fantasy-themed builds such as fortresses, towers, etc., or even just a basic base, go for it. For this, make sure you have cleared a substantial area and have an open sky such that sunlight can peep through.

Flower Forest

This is one of our favorites, considering how exceptionally breathtaking everything is. You can build a cozy little cottage-like home with flowers and bees flying by your home.

This biome has nearly every type of flower available in Minecraft. Not only can you build your base but also start a farm with bees for honey or even build a sanctuary. The best part of this palace is that it is tranquil and usually free from hostile mobs during the day, making it a peaceful place to settle down.

3. Taiga

Taiga does come under the forest biome itself, but it deserves a separate section. It is a cold and rugged landscape, filled with towering spruce trees and snowy terrain, that gives a sense of quiet.

The biome is covered in snow, and the ground is made of snow blocks, making it perfect for winter-themed builds or snow villages. Imagine having a small cottage-like home with a chimney on the snowy ground.

You will mostly find Spruce trees in this biome, which has dark wood and is ideal for rustic, log cabin-style builds. Frozen lakes and other frozen water bodies offer a natural ice surface for construction or exploration.

Furthermore, you will find certain passive mobs, such as Wolves, polar bears, etc., that can contribute towards your food supply and other resources such as fur.

This biome also poses a challenge apart from everything good we spoke about earlier. Since everything is covered in snow, the harsh environment can make survival difficult. Hence, make sure you have a constant source of fire, such as a fireplace, campfires, etc, to keep you warm throughout the day and night.

4. Mountains

After Plains, if you are looking for something beginner-friendly, Mountain Biome is the one to go for. This biome features cliffs, jagged peaks, and wide valleys that make everything look stunning. Likewise, the Alpine Peaks offer a stunning view and the opportunity to build on elevated platforms or cliff sides.

It combines everything, such as snowy peaks, flower variants, Spruce and Oak trees, etc. The best part here is that you will get an ample amount of resources from every corner, such as wood, water, stones, coal, iron, passive mobs, and more.

This biome is perfect for building high castles, temples, or even a basic home by the cliffside. The high location also provides a strategic advantage, as mobs will have a harder time reaching your base, especially if built on the peaks or cliffs.

Once familiar with the building process, you can build yourself a fortress with multi-level or tiered bases. Not only this, you can use your creativity and maybe add some underground caves, hidden rooms, or waterfalls that flow down the mountainside, giving your base a more organic, integrated feel.

The ideas are endless here, and as people say, Sky is the limit. If you decide to build your base on the mountain, make sure to take extra precautions on the steep slopes and hills.

5. Desert Biome

This is just another beginner-friendly biome where you can build your first base similar to Plains and Mountains. You will find a vast open space for building your home, making it easy to create large, sprawling structures without the constraints of dense forests or mountains.

However, it isn’t going to be easy; the resources here are very limited, with little to no water supply, hardly any passive mobs for food, and no trees. But if you can visit the nearby savanna or forest biome to get some wood, you can build amazing structures.

Furthermore, in this biome, sand, and sandstone are the primary resources that can help you build a basic structure. Using the sand, you can craft glass to give your castle a more picturesque look.

Another advantage of building here is that the weather is always clear and sunny. No sign of rain at all, which is always helpful as you can continue the construction all day long.

The biggest challenge here is the lack of water, making it difficult to cope. However, in Minecraft, you always have a way to make everything work. You can set up a kitchen in your base home with running water, use a bucket for water, cauldrons, etc. It is generally recommended not to set up any farm since irrigation is not sustainable.

6. Savanna

There are a ton of players who simply love having a base in the Savanna biome. The major reason is that it is filled with lush green grasses and has no rain or thunderstorms.

The entire biome gives off a warm vibe with pleasant weather throughout. It features Acacia trees, which are the defining feature of the Savanna, with their distinctive flat canopies and orangish wood. The Acacia wood gives a warm tone if used to build the base.

You might also come across the villager's and pillagers' outposts with brown terracotta roofs and distinctive architectural styles, making them an excellent resource or inspiration for expanding into your own base.

You might also come across passive mobs such as horses, donkeys, and Llamas. You can use them for transportation and meat.

7. Mushroom Islands

If you are into peace, nothing is more peaceful than the Mushroom Islands. You will love this biome because there are no hostile mobs present. You heard it right! No hostile mobs, even at night.

Mushroom Islands feature Mycelium Blocks, which is the signature block of this biome. It spreads like grass but has a distinct purple-gray texture. Another unique aspect here is that mushrooms grow naturally and act as the perfect food source to keep you satiated all day long.

These mushrooms can be harvested for their blocks or incorporated directly into builds as decorative or functional elements.

The only mob you will find in this biome is the Mooshroom cow. They can be milked for mushroom stew or converted to regular cows with shears. You can also set up a mushroom farm for a steady food supply, for crafting mushroom stew, fermented spider eyes, or other decorative purposes.

8. Nether and End Biomes

You can also build your base in the Nether or End Biomes. However, not many players opt for this since it is very challenging due to the hostile mobs such as Magma cubes, Ghasts, and piglins.

However, if you have enough experience in tackling all the difficult circumstances, you can build your base in Nether Wastes, Crimson Forest, and Warped Forest.

Similarly, the End Biomes, such as End Islands, are equally good for building a base. The advantage here is that there is no day/night present and no weather conditions. You can give your base a more futuristic or alien vibe to it.

Well, these are all the biomes you can build your base as a beginner. Simply start with Plain Biome, the most versatile and easiest to work with. Try setting up a home around some water source and forest area for enough resources.

Or else, you can make it a bit more challenging and try out the forest, desert, or mountain areas that may not have even space to build but plenty of resources to make your base look aesthetic and calming.
