Let’s check out each of these new features below.

1. Pale Garden Biome

The major change or addition to the new “Garden Awakens” update is the new biome called Pale Garden. It is pretty unique, resembling a Dark Forest variation.

During the day, when you explore the garden, you can feel how quiet everything is since no animals or mobs spawn here except only one. For example, if you play music and enter the biome, it will fade out instantly. However, you can hear eerie sounds and an unsettling vibe from the biome at night, making everything scary.

The subtle parts of the biome you will see are the falling leaves from the tree, which make it look pretty interesting. Another major fact about this biome is that the sky changes color to pale white when you enter it. No other biome could do this until now.

2. The Creaking- New Hostile Mob

Behold! We have a new hostile mob. As mentioned earlier, the Pale Garden does not feature any mobs or animals except one, and it is The Creeping. It looks like a tree but terrifying with glowing eyes.

The Creaking only spawns at night, making it very creepy and scary. It activates when a survival or adventure mode player is within 12 blocks and looks at it.

This mob has a unique way of attacking something you will not find in any other mob. It stops moving entirely when a player makes direct eye contact, mirroring how Weeping Angels in Doctor Who "quantum lock" themselves into immobility when seen.

However, when you turn away, it will swiftly move towards you to attack you. Mind you! They are speedy, and their melee attack gives damage of 1.5 hearts in the easy mode and 2 hearts in the hard mode.

It is not easy to kill this mob since they take no damage from any weapon. They are immune to fire and unaffected by Cacti, Sweet Berry Bushes, or Powder Snow. Ultimately, the only way to destroy them is to find their “heart” and kill it. This is where we will discuss a new block introduced in the game, i.e., the Creaking Heart.

3. Creaking Heart

The Creaking Heart is what brings the Creakings to life. These "living" blocks are found naturally within Pale Oak trees in the Pale Gardens biome. If you place a Creaking Heart between two Pale Oak Logs aligned on the same axis, Creaking will be spawned at the spot.

As mentioned above, you must destroy these blocks to kill the Creakings. When a Creaking mob is attacked, you will notice a particle trail linking it to the heart. This is how you can locate the heart.

Simply go to that tree, use an axe to cut down the nearby blocks of wood, and you will see the Creaking Heart. You can then destroy it, and the mobs will go away. All of these are possible only at night since it is the only time the Creaking Heart is active.

This block can also be crafted using Resin, another new addition to the update.

4. Pale Oak Tree

The new biome introduces a new tree type known as the Pale Oak Tree. They are only found in the Pal Garden biome and can be broken down using any suitable axe.

Meanwhile, you can obtain a new item from the trees: the Pale Oak Log. Just like other wood types, these logs can be crafted into Pale Oak Planks and further be used to craft items such as Door, Fence, Fence Gate, Plank, Sign, Hanging Sign, Slab, Stairs, Trapdoor, Wood, Stripped Log, Stripped Wood, Button, Pressure Plate, Boat, and Boat with Chest.

You can use these new items to decorate your house. Unlike the natural color of the wood, these are pal or, better say, whitish, making them excellent decorative pieces; if you are creative and good at building houses, this might enhance the whole look.

Moreover, these trees drop Pale Oak Saplings that can be further grown into more such trees. However, the trees you grow will not have any decorative features such as the moss hanging from them, the moss patches, etc.

5. Pale Moss and Pale Hanging Moss

You will also find Pale Moss and the Hanging Pale Moss in the new biome. These new blocks add depth to the environment and provide creative options for builders and adventurers alike.

The Pale Moss is found naturally in the Pale Garden scattered on the ground. Or you can buy these from the Wandering Traders. Using two Pale Moss Blocks, you can craft the Pale Moss Carpet. These can grow overtime naturally up to two blocks high on the solid faces of any block it touches.

Speaking of Pale Hanging Moss, it can be seen on the hanging on the Pale Oak Trees we spoke about earlier and simply adds an aesthetic value to the game. Also, if they are attached manually to the Pale Oak logs or leaves, they create eerie sounds that are pretty creepy.

6. Eyeblossoms

The new update also features a new flower called Eyeblossoms. They have unique properties that remain closed during the day and open during the night. When opened, you can see their eye, which looks golden, hence the name. Also, they emit ambient sound and particles through their “eye” at night.

Furthermore, bees can get poisoned if they touch the open eyeblossoms. Another unique aspect of this flower is that you can make a stew using the open Eyeblossom, which causes blindness, while the stew made from closed Eyeblossom causes nausea.

7. All Things Resin

The Garden Awakens update has added a new resource that expands crafting possibilities and interacts seamlessly with the biome’s ecosystem.

You can find these in the Pale Oak trees around the Creaking Heart we discussed above. To collect these, you can either break those Resin blocks from the trees or attack a creaking heart and get around 2-3 Resin Clumps.

You can then smelt these clumps into a furnace to get Resin Blocks. Furthermore, the Resin Bricks can be used to craft Resin Bricks. Like other blocks, you can use these bricks to make stairs, slabs, walls, armor trimming, etc.

Besides the decorative features, you can also use Resin in your armor, which looks pretty amazing.

You might also see some other updates in the game besides the new addition. Those are pretty minor and may not have some drastic effect. You can also visit their official press release to learn more about bug fixes and technical changes to the new 1.21.4 update.

We loved the new update, and there is so much to discover. Let us know in the comment section below if the new eerie sounds added are only scary for us or if they creep you out too.
