It’s been 5 years, and the days of early access are finally gone. Satisfactory 1.0 is here! This game has been nothing short of complete madness and absolute chaos, but at the same time, the best experience you will ever have.

If you have just heard about this game, you are in for a ride. I have spent thousands of hours in it since it launched, and I cannot wait to share with you what it has to offer.

What is Satisfactory?

Satisfactory is like a digital sandbox where you get to play God, but instead of creating life, you create factories.

Well, this game is a factory simulator in which you build, expand, and even manage every piece of production line on an alien planet. Think of it as a cross between Minecraft and SimCity but with a focus on automation and resource management.

Once you get started, everything might feel extremely complicated yet rewarding. From harvesting natural resources to creating intricate production chains, you are in charge of everything.

The overarching purpose of Satisfactory is to build a self-sufficient factory on an alien planet, but the underlying reasons are left open to interpretation. There is no definite answer to why are we on a mission to build these complex machines and for whom.

As you progress through the game, you build a wide range of structures and machines, including Factories, Conveyor Belts, Machines, and other Infrastructures.

This is the basic gist of the game. I will not spoil the fun for all the newcomers here. Go and buy the game now.

Satisfactory 1.0 Review: Everything New!

1. The Story Element: A Welcome Addition

Well, for someone who has played over 1000+ hours of this game, it has always been about optimization. You get dropped on an alien planet and are left to your own devices to build, automate, and progress. While this sandbox-style has kept us busy for hours, the introduction of a story element in version 1.0 is a fresh and welcome change.

The story focuses on completing Project Assembly, which has always existed in the game but is presented without much context.

Now, the storyline provides a real sense of accomplishment when you hit milestones. As a long-time player, it’s refreshing to have a bigger goal that ties together the seemingly endless building, resource gathering, and tech upgrades.

The new narrative is something that you must discover on your own. So no spoilers here!

2. New Conveyor Belts are Here!

If you are new to this game, you will understand the importance of Conveyor belts. They are the arteries of your factory, and managing their flow is a core part of the game’s strategy.

The new 1.0 version has two brand new additions: the MK6 conveyor belt and the long-awaited Straight conveyor belt design.

MK6 Conveyor Belt

The MK6 is considered to be the fastest conveyor belt introduced in the game with a transport capacity of 1,200 items per minute. Once you start creating large-scale factories, this new upgrade will come in handy and speed up the production process.

The best part of MK6 is how impactful it will be in the late-game efficiency. As your factories expand, and you start creating more complex production chains, the MK6 conveyor reduces the need for belt stacking or overcomplicated layouts.

Straight or 90-degree Conveyor Belt

Well, this was long-awaited. Those who have already invested a ton of hours will surely know how important these 90-degree conveyor belts will be. It will be easier now to build much cleaner-looking production lines and avoid those frustrating yet ugly-looking belts cluttering up the factory.

3. New Alien Technology

Apart from the conveyor belts and the addition of a storyline, the most exciting feature in this new 1.0 update is the Alien Technology.

1. Alien Power Augmenter

The new Alien Power Augmenter is one of the more visually striking new buildings in Satisfactory 1.0. It is an exceptional asset to your factory, providing a significant boost to power generation and capacity.

It will allow you to unlock new energy sources by using an alien material called Somersloops. These rare alien artifacts were previously just collectibles, but now they play a critical role in augmenting power production.

Each of these Augmenters requires 10 Somersloops to be constructed, which are scattered across the game world. The game has a total of 106 Somersloops available, which is limited and difficult to grab.

Speaking of power generation, the APA generates 500 MW of base power, providing a substantial boost to your power grid. Likewise, It also increases the total power capacity of your grid by 10%.

2. Dimensional Depot

Another unique yet highly useful addition to the game is the Dimensional Depot. It is a building that allows you to store items in a cloud-based storage system. This means you can access your stored items from anywhere in the game, regardless of their physical location.

To build this, you require a Mercer Sphere, which is a rare item that limits the number of Dimensional Depots you can build.

Moving on, the initial upload speed is set to 15 items/min, which can be upgraded under the Alien Tech Tree to up to five stacks and 240 items/min. However, you will need significant resources, including rare items like Mercer Spheres and SAM Fluctuators, for the upgrades, and as mentioned above, it can take a lot of time to simply collect Mercer Spheres in the gaming world.

3. Production Amplifier

Next, you can also unlock the Production Amplifier in the Alien Tech Tree to boost production efficiency in various factory buildings. It works by inserting a special resource, like Somersloops, into a machine's amplification slots to increase its output.

When you insert the Production Amplifier into a machine's Amplification Slots, it enhances the machine’s productivity. This means the machine will either produce more items in less time or use fewer raw materials to create the same amount of product.

Furthermore, the amplified machines can be visually recognized, as they now produce distinct red and purple steam and a low droning noise.

4. Quantum Encoder

Next, we have the Quantum Encoder. It is one of the most amazing pieces of technology designed for late-game progression that you will unlock in Tier 9.

This structure requires an exceptional amount of power and can be quite unstable. Your factory must be equipped to support its production needs.

This is majorly required in crafting the Superposition Oscillator, Neural-Quantum Processor, and Synthetic Power Shards. Any recipe created using this machine requires Excited Photonic Matter, an exotic material used in crafting other quantum-based items. And each of the recipes creates Dark Matter Residue as a by-product.

5. Converter

A lot of veteran players who have spent countless hours in the game might know that there are not a lot of resource nodes spread across the map.

Although the developers have added many more of these nodes, they are still limited. Hence, we are introducing Converter.

This is yet another new building designed for matter conversion and transmutation. It's a crucial tool for late-game production, enabling you to create rare and valuable resources essential for advancing your factory.

One of the major uses of this structure is converting one type of raw resource into another, such as Coal into Sulfur or Raw Quartz, Limestone into Iron, etc. The converter can also be used to create Ficsite Ingots, Excited Photonic Matter, Dark Matter Residue, and Time Crystals, which are needed a lot for other quantum recipes.

To run this machine smoothly, you will need a constant supply of Reanimated SAM. This rare resource can be crafted from SAM ore. You can research all of the information through the MAM.

6. HUB

Let’s take a break from everything tech and talk about the new things added to your hub. Once you get to it, you will notice some subtle changes to the design of the hub.

There is a brand new locker at your disposal that allows you to customize your character to the fullest extent. The Pioneer received minor upgrades to its Boots, kneepads, and other parts of its character. That's not all. You can customize it to change the helmet, build a gun, trinket, and their colors using the palette.

Moving on, the pantry in your hub has a brand new look, with an added Microwave. The living quarters have a completely new design as well, and it looks stunning.

A lot of the players were excited about the new Toilet, which can now be flushed. Above all, you can flush items such as Plutonium Waste, Hard Drives, Somersloops, or Mercer Spheres that cannot be eliminated from the inventory.

7. Everything Else That’s New!

We have already spoken about the Hub, Quantum Tech, Alien Tech, and the new story narrative in the game. However, there is so much more that is new that may not fit in this entire review, but let’s try to cover everything we can.

You will also find multiple Factory cosmetics that can be customized, such as three new types of Windows, new Construction Fences, Low and High Metal Barriers, and some beautiful paint finishes such as copper, chrome, etc. You can even change the factory's basic colors to Matte, Default, or Shiny.

Speaking of Drones, they can now carry a lot more resources such as Rocket Fuel, and Ionized Fuel.

You may find a ton of alternate and improved recipes in these new structures such as Dark Matter Crystals, Diamonds, Uranium Fuel Units, Portable Miner, and more.

Another addition to the game is the Portals. Now, they are a game-changer since they allow instant travel between the factories, and you no longer have to travel with your truck everywhere. However, they are super expensive to run and maintain in the long run.

Is The New 1.0 Worth It?

The answer is yes. It's worth so much more than any other game you have played. There are players who have spent over 6,000+ hours in the game, and all these new updates will only keep you hooked for a lot more hours.

New technology is worth exploring. Each has something more to uncover, which might seem complicated if you are new, but once you get the hang of it, it gets exciting.

There have been some minor yet noticeable changes to the Biomes, and different areas around the game world have been polished and upgraded to give you a fresh look. It is highly recommended that you start fresh even if you are a veteran to make the most of it.
