Crude Oil is the black gold of the game Palworld and if you are new here, buckle up, as you are here for a ride. It's the currency of progress, the key to unlocking the game's full potential. If you're tired of being stuck at a standstill, unable to craft that next big item or build the ultimate base, then it's time to dive deep into the world of Crude Oil.
We have spent 150+ hours playing the new Sakurajima update alone, and it has been incredible. If you are new here, we will cover all the Crude Oil base locations, how you can mine it, and all the tips and tricks to make things easier.

Let’s get going.
Crude Oil in Palworld is a finite resource found primarily in specific locations. It requires significant investment in both time and resources to extract effectively.
It is extremely valuable especially once you start with the Sakurajima update in crafting a vast array of items, from ammunition and explosives to advanced armor and weaponry.
For example, a ton of Crude Oil is needed to produce Plasteel, which is then used to create high-grade armor and weapons.
However, it is a highly tedious process and takes hours to even extract a drop of Crude Oil. So, there are certain tricks that you can apply as well to make the most of these oil fields spread across the Palworld map.
Well, Palworld is massive and to get your hands on the oil field, you will have to embark on a hunt. There are multiple ways and locations where you can get Crude Oil.
The major location for Crude Oil is without a doubt, Sakurajima Island. The larger, darker patches are the goldmines you're looking for. Smaller, less pronounced oil deposits are generally not worth your time or resources.
You will mostly find 1 or 2 oil nodes in each of these spots. For example, the most beautiful location on the island is near the Mushroom Biomes which has 2 oil nodes. There are other oil fields spread across the island that are equally great for setting up a base and the Oil extractor.
If you have already played a few hours on this island, you might be aware this is no cakewalk. There are various hostile creatures that might attack your extractor, and destroy it if not taken necessary precautions.
However, the real liquid gold that you can extract is from the only location that has three oil nodes. It is on the western tip of Mount Obsidian. The coordinates are -854, -454. You can easily locate it on the map..
Other than this, you will find oil fields on the Astral Mountains and Dessicated Dessert as well. Although these aren’t mostly preferred by most players, you can definitely check them out.
While Sakurajima is the epicenter of Crude Oil production, don't limit yourself to just this location.
As I mentioned above, extracting crude oil from these oil fields isn’t the only way to gather liquid gold. There are multiple other ways that are much easier and do not take a “million” hours.
These two pals were added recently with the new Sakurajima update. After you hunt and kill them, they potentially drop crude oil. Personally, this isn’t much compared to what you will get from mining the crude oil; however, it is a much faster process.
Kikit can be found on the northern and southern shores of Sakurajima island. They are present both during the day and night and mostly in large numbers. Simply use your missiles or rocket launcher to kill them and grab the crude oil.
Similarly, Sootseer is also among those Pals who serve a similar purpose. They are found in the graveyard on the island only at night, so they are a bit rare and not of the best use.
Another update introduced with the Sakurajima Island is that the Oil Rig Stronghold rewards a good amount of Crude Oil.
You can go to the Marsh Island fast travel point and move further towards the water area, where you can locate the Oil Rig. However, this can be a bit difficult to complete since you will come across a lot of enemies in this location.
If you are new here, it might take some time to figure out how to complete this challenge. However, every enemy you kill will give you Crude Oil. The treasure chests also reward with 100+ or sometimes lesser Crude Oil, which is incredible.
In addition, you might be able to get the oil from random loot and rewards that you will be informed about from time to time.
Now that we know all the locations, let’s examine everything from scratch regarding how to extract and use Crude Oil.
Now, the next step is to set up the Oil extraction process to generate large amounts of Crude Oil. Here is everything you need to know and follow to set your own Oil extraction base.
Before diving into the specifics, it's essential to grasp the core components of your oil extraction setup:
If this is your first time placing these generators, it's best to go with a two-oil node location anywhere on Sakurajima Island. Preferably, go with the Mushroom biomes location.
Start by carefully placing the extractor on the oil nodes so that two of them fit perfectly. If you are unsure, you can watch multiple YouTube videos to help you out with the placements.
Make sure you have the required Pal Metal Ingots and Circuit Boards to craft the extractors.
Now, that you have set up and placed the extractor, it is time to move on to the power supply.
For this, I recommend unlocking the Large Generator on Level 49 along with an Electric Pylon from Level 48.
You need two generators in your base. Although many would recommend adding the two Large Generators, they are extremely costly. Instead, you can go with a Power Generator and a Large Generator, for a more cost-effective solution. Then, craft the two generators near each other. Next, you will need a number of electric Pals.
We recommend Orserk, a Level 4 pal. You can also add Grizzbolt and Helzephyr Lux.
Helzephyr Lux is super important here since it is a nocturnal Pal that will continue to provide the power supply 24/7.
Additionally, do not forget to craft the Electric Pylon, which will help the pals create more electricity and possibly speed up the process.
Now that everything is set up, your work here is not completely done. There are a few small things that you must do to ensure everything is running smoothly.
Since you have set up a base for Crude Oil extraction, it is important to regularly take care of the Pals at work, too, especially the electric Pals. The entire process is power-hungry, and your pals might get tired very soon.
It's best to have multiple other Electric Pals handy on your base that you can replace with. Also, keep checking the power generators from time to time to ensure they are providing enough power to extract the oil.
And that is all you need to know to get the Crude Oil through the extractors.
Well, this process is going to take ages. Hence, you can always breed Kikit on your base and eventually grab the crude oil from Or you can find them directly on the island and hunt them for crude oil.
