Let’s get to it.

Locations: Strategically, Defensive Stronghold or Resource-Rich?

If you have just started playing the game and building your first base, you need a perfect location. Not many gamers talk about it, but it's super important.

Picking the right spot isn't just about aesthetics; it shapes your entire Palworld experience. Here's where to look beyond the obvious:

1. Flat and Open is King

You need to choose a location on a flat surface that is widely open to expansion in the future. Steep slopes and uneven terrain are a nightmare for building different structures.

You can search through the map, look for a flat, open piece of land, and start exploring the area. The more you explore the area, the better you will understand if this is the right place for you regarding security, resources, and space.

2. Resource Rich

We must look forward to this, apart from looking for an open area. You will need a ton of resources to build your base.

Early on, you'll need a steady wood supply for basic structures and crafting. Additionally, watch for exposed ore deposits – these provide essential materials for advanced tools and equipment.

Some of the very popular areas are Sealed Realm of the Frozen Wings, the area north of Chillet, and others. These areas have just enough trees for woods, ore deposits, and waterbodies such as waterfalls and rivers.

3. Defense Matters

Even as a beginner, you must ensure the location isn’t easily raidable. If the land is open from all ends, it might get difficult to keep away the enemies and the Pals will have to constantly protect your base.

You do not have to worry about raids and attacks this early on in the game, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Consider natural choke points like cliffs or narrow passages that can funnel attackers. Even a basic wall at a strategic point can make a big difference in repelling initial raids.

Beyond the Basics- Shelter and Security

Now that you have selected your location, it's time to start building from the ground up. Your first priority should be placing the Palbox in the right location and then building the structure around it.

1. Palbox and Walls

Palbox is the heart of your base, provides a safe haven for your Pals, and acts as a central hub for various functions.

Now, remember that the area around the Palbox is the buildable area. Don't stray outside—structures placed there will not function.

Once done, you can start building your initial base. Most gamers or other YouTubers use wood for construction since it's easily available. However, they are easily flammable. You do not want everything to turn into ashes. Hence, as soon as you are able to gather resources, upgrade to stone or even metal walls for better defense.

2. Don’t leave the perimeter open

A super helpful for your first base would be never to leave your fortress open from all the areas. You need to either build a wall all around your base or simply add a sturdy gate to control access.

If you decide to build a wall, try assigning some powerful Pals as gatekeepers who will always protect your base from any incoming raids in the future.

Crafting and Construction

This is more than just a base—it's your first home and workshop. Here, you'll build weapons, care for Pals, rest, create outfits, and much more.

1. Build Your Crafting Station

You can start with your first workbench to craft basic items and tools. For this, you will need some basic Pals to do the construction for you. The best ones here are Cattiva and Lamball.

Don't forget to connect your crafting station to the power grid. This unlocks more advanced crafting options as you progress.

2. Living Quarters

As mentioned, this will be your home, and the first thing you can begin with is building your living quarters. You can add a bed to rest on, a storage box to store all your extra items, and a fireplace if available.

Similarly, another important factor here is to take care of your Pals in every way. Hence, add a few beds for your pals so they can rest in a timely manner.

Farming, Food, and Resource Managemen

1. Food and Farming

Food is the fuel that keeps your Pal sanctuary running. Apart from building sleeping pods for your Pals, they need to be well-fed.

You need to acquire basic farming tools, such as a shovel, to prepare the soil for planting. Similarly, you can get the seed for plantation from traders, hidden treasures, and dropped by defeated enemies.

Apart from this, you can lay down a feed box from which the Pals can feed whenever hungry. All of these will require a lot of wood; hence, make sure you have enough by chopping off the trees around you.

2. Management and Organization

It's important that everything is placed in a designated place and organized properly so that you and your Pals can easily access it.

As mentioned earlier in this guide, you need craft chests to store your resources and crafted items. Place them strategically near crafting stations for easy access. Later, as you acquire more Pals, consider assigning someone with the "Transporting" proficiency to haul resources to nearby chests automatically.

You can even build dedicated storage areas for bulky items like logs or large stacks of harvested crops. Utilizing shelves or even open-air designated zones can keep your base organized while still providing easy access to these essential resources.

Expansion and Upgrades

Once you have sent up your initial base, i.e., food, farming, workbench, bed, etc., it's time to talk about how you can expand and upgrade all the above in the future.

As you move further in the game, you will be catching more and more Pals on the way. If your base is smaller, there will be no room for expansion, and a cramped base will make it difficult for Pals to work.

You might need a dedicated space for breeding, training ground, etc. Make sure you have ample space for the above.

1. Research is the Key

Researching plays a key role in upgrading your base. You can make the most of the tech tree to unlock new technologies, craft recipes, and even advanced building materials.

There are multiple categories that take care of different areas of the game, such as Base Building, Crafting, Pal Care, Resource Management, and Exploration and Survival.

Although the tech tree is massive, you need to prioritize what research will give you an early step up in building your base. You can use the technology here that allows you to build specialized Ranches for specific Pal types or even research advanced training methods to maximize your Pals' combat effectiveness.

2. Don’t forget the aesthetics

Although this is your first base, aesthetics are important. You will have a ton of resources at your disposal to help you plant gardens, build fountains, and more to make your base look and feel better whenever you are resting there.

Bonus Tip: Automate Everything

You cannot look out for your base all day long. Automating the basic tasks will make things easier and help you focus on exploring the entire Palworld.

Pals are the key to automation. Pals with the "Gathering," "Transporting," and "Watering" proficiencies can be assigned to automate basic tasks. Imagine your Ferox diligently gathering wood while you explore nearby caves.

For example, you can assign Vixy and Mau to the ranch, which will generate infinite Pal spheres, Gold, and arrows. Here, you can pick these up yourselves or assign transport Pals to pick them up and deliver them to a storage box.

By the time you reach Level 7, you will be able to unlock a stone pit and logging site. These will give you infinite production of wood and stones. For this, you can capture Dinossom and Penkin.

Well, there are multiple other ways you can simply assign Pals to automate your entire base. And as you move further in the game, you build a few more bases for mining and other purposes.
