Conan Exiles: The Frozen North
On August 16, 2017, Funcom launched the
2nd Early Access phase of their survival game
Conan Exiles with the free expansion
The Frozen North. The update introduces a plethora of new features, improvements, and changes, leading Funcom to refer to it as a
new and distinct game compared to the version Conan Exiles initially launched with. Simultaneously, Conan Exiles is also being released on Xbox One.

Features
The Frozen North comes with the following features:
- Frozen Highlands - A new area that expands the playable area of Conan Exiles by 70%. The Frozen Highlands are a cold region in the north with icy mountains, deep forests, and new peoples, cultures, and settlements.
- Weather and Temperature System - The new system introduces climate and temperature effects on the player: depending on the climate and temperature, players should dress and equip themselves accordingly to avoid dehydration in desert heat or freezing in icy cold.
- New Buildings and Resources - New resources like Star Metal and Black Ice have been introduced, and players can now create new buildings and facilities that can be adapted to the corresponding climate and provide cooling or warmth, for example.
- A New Religion with Avatar - Ymir, the god of storms and war, can be worshipped, and his avatar can be summoned.
- New Enemies - With the new area come new enemies that match the climate: Frost Giants, Giant Wolves, Mammoths, and many more, as well as new bosses in the numerous dungeons added.
- Crafting Extensions Brewing and Cooking - The player's crafting capabilities are expanded with brewing and cooking. Players can now create various drinks and meals: beer, wine, absinthe, beetle soup, demon blood sausages, and more, as well as catch fish and breed bees.
- General Gameplay Improvements - The expansion brings an improved combat system, optimized artificial intelligence for human opponents, and a whole host of other minor improvements, changes, and bug fixes.
- New Armors and Weapons - There are 3 new types of material: Star Metal, Black Ice, and Hardened Steel, from which new weapons and armors can be forged, as well as a range of other new equipment items and weapons.
