Account: Teams & Sharing – Invite and manage access for your services
Introduction
The Teams & Sharing system replaces the previous User Account Management / Subusers feature and introduces a more modern and flexible way to share access to your services with others.
Instead of only creating separate login credentials, you can now invite existing ZAP-Hosting customer accounts directly via email and assign them to a permission group. This allows you to collaborate with friends, team members, or administrators while maintaining full control over what they are allowed to access.
The entire administration interface has been redesigned and is now fully reactive and significantly faster, making it easier to manage invitations, groups, and shared access.
Accessing Teams & Sharing
To open the Teams & Sharing management page, click on the arrow next to your avatar in the top-right corner of the customer panel and select Teams & Sharing.
The Teams & Sharing page provides an overview of your groups, pending invitations, and existing shared users.
Creating a Team Group
Before inviting users, you need to create a group which defines the permissions shared users will receive.
- Open the Teams & Sharing page
- Click Create group
- Enter a group name
- Configure the permissions that members of the group should have
- Save the group
Groups allow you to define different permission levels depending on who should access your services.
Inviting an Existing ZAP Customer
One of the new features of Teams & Sharing is the ability to invite existing ZAP-Hosting customer accounts.
- Click the Add user button in the group
- Select Invite existing account
- Choose the group you want to assign the user to
- Enter the email address of the ZAP customer account
- Click Invite customer
The invited user will receive an email invitation. The invitation will also appear on the Teams & Sharing page under Pending customer invitations.
Accepting an Invitation
When a user receives an invitation, they can accept it from their own Teams & Sharing page. Once accepted, the invited user becomes part of the selected group and gains access according to the configured permissions.
Switching Between Accounts
After accepting the invitation, the invited user can use the user switcher to move between their own account and the shared account.
To switch accounts:
- Click the account menu in the top-right corner
- Open the Shared User Switcher
- Select the shared account you want to access
This allows users to manage multiple environments without needing to log out or switch credentials manually.
Creating a Sub-User Instead
If the person you want to grant access to does not already have a ZAP-Hosting account, you can still create a traditional sub-user.
- Click Add user
- Select Create new sub-user
- Enter the required login information
- Assign the user to the desired group
This will create a separate login that only has access to the permissions defined for that group.
Conclusion
Congratulations! You now know how to use the Teams & Sharing system to invite users, create permission groups, and securely share access to your services. The redesigned system makes collaboration easier while ensuring you maintain full control over permissions and account access.
